Once you set the timer steaming starts after 15-20 seconds. You can see the water level, but it does not have outside compartment to add water without interrupting steaming process if the water level gets too low.
It’s recommended to add water close to Max level, but not higher ( it will stop working) so steaming can be completed without interruption.
